Alan Armstrong

Alan Armstrong, Esq., is the founding attorney of Alan Armstrong Attorney at Law, Atlanta, Georgia. Supported by decades of experience, he practices personal injuries and wrongful death arising from aviation accidents and other forms of personal injury litigation. Mr. Armstrong represents airmen, aircraft operators, and FAA-certified repair stations in aviation enforcement proceedings before the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration. He also represents clients when aircraft are damaged or destroyed. He crafts various aircraft contracts, leases & closing documents for clients under FAA rules and regulations and assists individuals or entities who wish to lease aircraft or operate aircraft under timeshare or interchange agreements permitted by the Federal Aviation Administration Regulations. Mr. Armstrong has extensive experience with proceedings brought under Part 16 of the Federal Aviation Regulations. The claims state that owners or sponsors of airports receiving Federal funds have committed acts of economic discrimination or denied aviation operators fair and reasonable access to airports. In 1972, Mr. Armstrong earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Philosophy and Religion from Berry College. Between 1973 and 1974, he attended Pettit College of Law of Ohio. Subsequently, in 1976, Mr. Armstrong received his Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law. Ranked among the top 25% of his class, he was a Dean’s List student and won the American Juris Prudence Award – Estates. Admitted to practice in Georgia, Mr. Armstrong also represents clients before the Superior and State Courts for the State of Georgia, Georgia Court of Appeals, Georgia Supreme Court, United States District Court for the Northern, Southern, and Middle Districts of Georgia, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and the Eleventh Circuits, the United States Supreme Court, and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia. Since 1980, he has served his clients through his private practice in Atlanta, Georgia. 

 

As an expert in his field, Mr. Armstrong has testified before the Subcommittee on Aviation of the Committee on Public Works and Transportation, United States House of Representatives, November 15, 1989, regarding The FAA's Civil Penalty Assessment Demonstration Program. Notably, he has written over one hundred articles on aviation law, which have been published in professional journals and periodicals. A contributing editor to the Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association Journal, Mr. Armstrong has served as the Editor of the National Transportation Safety Board Bar Association Newsletter. He has also written articles published in the Journal of Air Law and Commerce, the Transportation Law Journal, Air Law, Aviation Consumer, IFR Magazine, Air Classics, Plane & Pilot, and Southern Aviator. Mr. Armstrong maintains professional affiliations with the American Association of Justice, American Bar Association (ABA), ABA - Forum Committee on Air and Space Law, ABA - Tort and Insurance Practice Section, IATSBA (Founding Member), Georgia Bar Association, Georgia Association of Trial Lawyers, Atlanta Bar Association, and the Aviation Section of State Bar of Georgia (Chairman). Rated Bar Register of Pre-Eminent Lawyers by Martindale-Hubbell, he has appeared on the Bar Register of Pre-Eminent Lawyers. As an avid pilot, Mr. Armstrong owns and pilots a replica Nakajima B5N2 Kate bomber in airshows and for film productions. He is a pilot with the Dixie Wing of the Commemorative Air Force. In his spare time, Mr. Armstrong enjoys flying and writing.
